Just like his father, Mike Tolhurst was born in the heart of Australia’s sunniest capital, Canberra.
Even though he was originally reluctant to spend out his days in such a small city, seeing the world outside of Canberra gave him a deep appreciation of the quality of life and beauty that this thriving country capital has to offer.
Having developed a deep love for technology from the moment he laid hands on his first computer at age 3, Mike is proud of his title as a true digital native. Teaching himself to code as a 12-year-old, and helping the family build the very first Real Estate Australia website, it comes as no surprise that he’s been involved with the business IT systems since the first day in 2001.
More than technology, however, there’s nothing he enjoys more than sharing stories and ideas with people from all walks of life. It was this keen interest that led him to a career in Sales and Marketing, having sold everything from customized Business Automation Software to Research & Development Taxation consultancy and working in various technology companies along the way.
Whilst he’s fresh into the Real Estate industry, Mike has keenly honed his skills in negotiation throughout the last 10 years of his career.
When he’s not trawling through lines of code or getting caught up in an endless variety of Netflix documentaries, Mike loves to jam out classic acoustic covers on his steel string guitar and has been known to annoy his housemates with catchy tunes that should’ve stayed in the 90’s. Oh, and he’ll never say no to an ice cold schooner of his favourite brew, Carlton Draught.
Working alongside his old man, Mike hopes to breathe the next generation of technological innovation into the family business.
